“Buna” is the Ethiopian word for coffee. In Ethiopia, coffee is never a quick drink: it is a ceremony, prepared slowly and shared with guests as a sign of respect and friendship. That ritual is where our search began. We wanted a coffee that honors this heritage, and a way of serving it that gives it the attention it deserves.
We select exceptional single-origin beans from premium Ethiopian farms, hand-picked and roasted to perfection. Then we add the finishing touch that makes Buna D’or unmistakable: pure 23-karat edible gold. The result is bold flavor, layered aromas and unmistakable refinement, in every cup.

To preserve the intended quality and character of the coffee, Buna D’or should be prepared with care. This is how our baristas do it, and how you bring the ritual home.
Grind the beans just before brewing, medium-fine. Freshly ground coffee keeps its layered aromas; pre-ground coffee loses them within minutes.
Use filtered water, brought to just below boiling. Too hot and the coffee turns bitter; too cool and the flavour stays flat.
At our experiences we brew by siphon: a slow, visual method that extracts the coffee gently and lets the full character come through. A pour-over or French press works beautifully at home.
Finish the cup with a delicate touch of 23-karat edible gold, added at the end so it stays visible on the surface.
Serve in a clear glass, so the shimmer of gold is the first thing your guests notice. Then take your time: this is a coffee to be sipped, not rushed.

03The founder
Because the most extraordinary coffee in the world deserved more than a paper cup.
Our story starts with Ethiopian roots and the coffee ceremony that comes with them: the slow roasting, the fragrance filling the room, the three rounds of coffee shared with guests as a sign of respect. We grew up with coffee as a ritual, and we saw how quickly it had become a routine everywhere else.
So we went back to the source. We searched the Ethiopian highlands for beans that deserved the ceremony: hand-picked, single-origin, roasted with care. And we asked ourselves how to give that coffee the attention it deserves in a world of luxury events and refined hospitality. The answer was gold. Pure, edible, 23-karat gold, the oldest symbol of the exceptional, added to the oldest coffee tradition in the world.
